About Us

Rockabilly-online is an international online magazine with daily fresh stories about rockabilly lifestyle, artist interviews (Marti Brom), fashion ( Laura Byrne of Pinup Girl Clothing), pinup (Bernie Dexter), photographers (Viva van Story), cd reviews, band profiles, Burlesque stories, furniture articles etc.

It started as a one woman magazine writing about fifties music, furniture and clothing. In july 2010, the magazine took off, when gradually more writers joined, to write daily about all the stuff worldwide Rockabilly’s (and others) want to read about.

Within a few months, an explosive increase of fans occurred. We went from 300 visitors to 7000 visitors per month (October 2010) and the number is still growing.

We have a selected group of writers, but everyone who is interested is welcome to apply. Even if you’re not thinking of a writer career, send us your tips, comments, stories, interests, pictures, tattoos, questions etc. Because YOU keep this magazine alive. Rock it to us!

Our writers:

Dee Ann

I am Dee Ann writer and founder of Rockabilly-online.com. I live in Rotterdam, Holland. With my band Dee Ann and the Nightcaptains I travel around the country and in Belgium, Germany and the UK. The music is what makes me sparkle. Along with the music I love the Rockabilly lifestyle. I started this magazine two years ago. Along the way I’m happy to have gathered some awesome writers who share the same interests. My mission is to honor the original artists from the 50’s, to keep the vintage lifestyle alive, to keep track of today’s top artists and to help new artists with the exposure they need. (With artists I mean musical, tattoo, photographer, model, designer …)

Who knows, we might be at the root of some growing carreers here.

Bella Florentine

Hi I am Bella Florentine. Born and raised in mormon central ( Utah ) I have always embraced my inability to assimilate to the norm. I am a trained chef currently unemployed because the food scene here in Ogden Utah is pathetic. I’m a Wanna be pinup queen who wishes I could’ve been part of Andy Warhol’s silver factory.

I am married to a computer genius who likes me because I’m math illiterate, and my true claim to fame is my three year old daughter Ava.
I adore fashion and anything glam. I write to give you a slice of my life and interests not to preach or try to change opinion, but if I do even better 😉

Bunny Levinson

Bunny Levinson is the “jewish Jayne Mansfield.” Born in New Jersey, her parents quickly relocated her to Texas. There she learned to love big hair and loud music with equal zeal.

Ingrid

Hey everyone, I’m Ingrid Montanez and I am a freelance writer currently living in Sin City but born and raised in Queens, New York. I’m a big horror movie fan and I think tattooing is the most beautiful form of self expression there is. I am both inspired and fascinated by all things 40’s and 50’s era from music and movies to cars and pin up models.I earned my BA in English back in NYC and I’ve been writing ever since I can remember .

My name is Anita. I’ve lived in Toronto, Chile, Vancouver and now I’m back in Toronto for a little while. I discovered the rockabilly subculture via punk in Vancouver. That’s right I went to a Reverend Horton Heat show wearing a mohawk and patched up pants! That’s how I discovered the wonderful world of psychobilly then one thing led to another and I got into rockabilly, surf, swing, jazz, etc. I also love pin up art and whenever I can create my own paintings and illustrations. I also love film, comics, vintage fashion, cooking and baking. So I hope to post some recipes along with band interviews and film reviews. I hope you enjoy them!

Jodie

Jodie Barnaby is a recovered TV news reporter hailing from the mean streets of Listuguj, QC Canada (Google it!) She currently relocated from Canada to Edinburgh, and spends her days hoping her cheques don’t bounce, obsessing about all things horror, and wishing she had a vintage wardrobe.

A shy writer to the core, she dreads writing bios where she has to refer to herself in the third person.

While the more generous may call Graham Bowlin “just some loser”, he is technically a free lance writer working and dancing in Los Angeles, CA.  He mostly writes crime stories and has appeared in various magazines.  He can be found talking about his two great loves, himself and pulp fiction, over at: www.thepulpprimer.com
