Jamie Bahr on Danger*Cakes Year Two!

Posted by Bunny On November - 18 - 2011

On Halloween of 2010, a new band emerged on the Austin scene.  Fusing elements of  psychobilly, doo-wop, big band swing, and classic soul the band quickly became a fixture in the Austin rockabilly scene.  The all-female group ended their  first year with a bang, joining the likes of Mad Sin and Devil Doll at the 2nd annual Freakshow Festival.   Now, with October behind us, I thought I’d play some catch with Danger*Cake’s buxom frontwoman Jamie Bahr.

Pinup of the week: Anita Fixx

Posted by Dee-Ann On November - 14 - 2011

Hello, I’m Anita Fixx! I currently live in Toronto but I consider my hometown to be Vancouver, Canada. My first love is and always will be punk rock, but I also love psychobilly, ska, rockabilly, jazz, blues and old school country (think Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn). I discovered all those other genres through punk, believe it or not, so I’ll never forget those punk rawk roots!
Another passion would be vintage clothes shopping, thrift shops are the preferred place to go for these. It’s the thrill of the hunt! Besides that I love cooking and baking…I should clarify that’s vegan cooking and baking! After picking up a few good cookbooks on the subject I realized that it is do-able and delicious! Not to mention there was no innocent animal tortured or killed for my nourishment.

I do a little bit of alternative modelling here in the frozen north and would love to do more. Why do I like it? Because I’m a visual artist (I do watercolour and acrylic paintings as well as murals) so anything that has an unusual visual element interests me. I also write reviews and interview bands, everyone from Koffin Kats to The Bouncing Souls. The film I’m working on “Canadian Psycho” brings these interests together since it’s a documentary about the psychobilly scene in Canada. After its’ release I intend to make a few films that are fiction based, I’m writing the screenplays right now!

Freakshow Festival:2011 Review!

Posted by Bunny On October - 19 - 2011
Hitting the right notes on a second year festival is tough.  With “Freakshow”  the first year was an extremely tough act to follow.  With both huge names on the bill and a large set-up that seemed to engulf down town Austin.  The somewhat more subdued “Freakshow” of year two, seemed to be setting itsself up for a fall.  And  when,I rolled into the make-shift fair grounds it seemed my fears were going to be confirmed.

Pinup of the week: Venus on Drugs

Posted by Dee-Ann On April - 25 - 2011

Photo by By Erika Zigga Figabomba

As long as I can remember I’ve felt the necessity to express my individuality in a unique way. It didn’t matter if it were through appearance, music or art, I always aimed at becoming my own living freakshow. At age 14 I started creating what would eventually be my on-stage persona “Venus on Drugs”, inspired from the music of my all time favorite band: The Velvet Underground.
With a love for a variety of styles, from Classical to Punk and from Rave to Pinup, I find it difficult to restrict myself to a specific genre, but I still think there is a certain constant element that is the core to the Venus on Drugs-style. It’s a style that is as sweet as it is sexual, as loving as it is confronting; it’s always at the extremes and nothing in between.
I am the embodiment of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, and if rock’s a sin I’ll be your perfect rock ‘n roll sinner.
This is the world I create: a psychedelic world of a Venus on Drugs that makes you eat poisoned cupcakes till I’m sure you’ll Love and Hallucinate.

Pinup of the week: Arliss James

Posted by Dee-Ann On April - 18 - 2011

Hi everyone! I’m Arliss James from Orange County, Ca. I love reading rockabilly-online and I am so excited to be your Pin-Up of the week.
Ever since I can remember, I have always been a blue jean queen with Pin-Up dreams! I must have been about 7 years old when bobby pins and lipstick became a favorite play time activity.  From as early as I can remember I have been fascinated by the vintage styles of the 1940’s and 50’s. I love watching old movies, especially with Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball just to see the dresses the actresses are wearing.  I love oldies, rockabilly and swing music. I hope to join a Burlesque Workshop soon.  I spend most of my time with family, friends and my cat Churchill.  I have been working in the Special Education field for 14 years.   I also do charity work when I feel passion for a cause.  I collect clothing all year round for the Orange County Rescue Mission which provides for the homeless. This October 2011 I will be participating in Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, benefiting the American Diabetes Association. This will take place at Knotts Berry Farm and it will be my first walk for this cause and I am the Team Captain of Team Woodstock.  I may not be able to change the world, but I can put a smile on someone’s face by showing I care enough to take the time to help others.  Thank You Dee Ann for allowing rockabilly-online to show the modern day pin-up models of today, because they are continuing to set a healthy example that woman can have curves and be sexy.

Pinup of the week: Señorita-D

Posted by Dee-Ann On March - 14 - 2011

My name is Denise A.K.A Señorita-D, I am 24 years old and I live in Tilburg.
I always have been a very creative girl and thats why I love pin-up photos and modelling. I’m actually collecting photos, and try a lot of new things. I think this kind of pictures are sexy, dary, but also represent innocence, I like them in Black and white, but also in beautiful fifties-colors. It is so much fun to choose the whole outfit, and getting you’re hair and make up done. I get the inspiration everywhere. Especially in my favorite movies.
Besides modelling I like a lot of other things. A few of those things are: Watching Cult-and horror movies, and of course I am a big fan of Quentin Tarantino, Johnny Cash, animals, cooking, the summer, Rockabilly, westernboots, tattoos, red lipstick, shopping, american cars…but most of all being with and loving my boyfriend! I’m a very romantic girl…

I have done a lot of different kind of modelling and also boypainting, but Pin-Up photoshoots surely are my favorite and I would love to do only that kind of photoshoots in the future. It is so much fun!

Pinup of the week: Necia Navine

Posted by Dee-Ann On March - 7 - 2011

Photo by Paula-Kim and Necia Navine

My name is Necia Navine and I live in Deventer, The Netherlands.
I started modeling about 2 years ago, I worked at a photo studio ( UrsulaFotografie ) and the photographer regularly took pictures of me. I discovered that I loved to pose, and thanks to her I got a fantastic portfolio from the beginning! And so the story began..
I like Fetish, Glamour and Artistic/Conceptual shots the most.
In the fetish and glamour world it’s all about seduction, I get to be feminine, sexy, sensual, it’s a great way to make you feel good about yourself. With artistic/conceptual shoots I get a chance to really let myself go, put all of my feelings into a shoot, I like to show my darker side sometimes. It feels great to just let everything go like that.

I’ve always been different, I’m not really a rock chick, I’m not really a punker, I’m not really “scene”, I’m not indie, I’m just me! I believe that all of the models at Rock ‘n Roll sinners have their own unique style and look… But hey, I’ll admit, it feels great to be a sinner sometimes!

Rock ’n Roll Sinners Agency

Posted by Dee-Ann On February - 22 - 2011

Rock ‘n Roll Sinners Agency is an agency for alternative and pin-up models, bands and performers such as burlesque- and fetish who dare to be different in appearence and style. Nicky Verstappen is the founder of this agency. He is proud to present his models the next few weeks. But first let’s see what’s behind all that.

Nicky: The name already appeared in my mind about half a year before actually launching it, combining my passion for the music and lifestyle called rock ’n roll and the fact that I lead a rather sinful life: the name describes the person behind the company, the companies concept and our models and performers (the sinners) at once!

After working on graphic- and interactive design for about 3-4 years I simply decided it was time to combine it with my passion for photography, music and alternative lifestyle. This combined with the network and opportunities I had at that time made the decision pretty quick: I will leave the details of the neverending research that followed apart to keep things interesting.

Pinup of the week: Kiki Kaboom

Posted by Dee-Ann On February - 14 - 2011

The Story Of Kiki KabOOm..
My name is Kiki, I’m 24 years old and from a boring little place in the Netherlands, called Oss..
One of the fun things in Oss is Ace of Spades, the tattoo shop where I work as a body piercer/floor manager. The tattoo shop opened about two years ago and I’ve been a body piercer since last year. I always had a lot of piercings myself, but it was still a big step for me to put needles into someone else’s body.. I can clearly remember the first piercing I did, it was a nipple piercing which bled for three hours. It was a disaster, I was in shock and I thought my client was dying haha..
The more piercings I did, the better I got. But most of all I find it a very rewarding job. People come to me nervous and scared and leave with big smiles on their faces..
Apart from piercings and tattoos, I love animals and LOUD music.. Psychobilly, punk, oi, folk, terror, rockabilly, American hardcore and of course Rock N Roll is a big influence in my life, I always were black eyeliner and love to sing elvis.. But I wouldn’t say that my style is completely fifties.. I have many
styles depending by the way I feel that day..
That’s also why I love to be a Rockabella model.. When you are a model, you can be someone different everytime.. But like every little girl I love being dressed and make-upped professionally.. It makes you feel like a princess.. A tattoo-princess in my case..

When I was 14 years old, an artist approached me on a terrace while I was enjoying a drink with my mother. He asked me if I would like it to be photographed by him; my extravagant outfit impressed him. I’ve always been a pretty outspoken person: a very strong will, experimental clothing styles and eccentric hobbies.

But so it happened, I rolled into the “art photography world”.

I’m a total happy goth, complete with permanent vampire fangs and more. At my make up videos have been watched by over 4,6 million people and made me lots of new friends around the world. I also keep a blog and have a homepage. The blog have over 5000 pretty visitors every single day.
As I model I love doing all styles, but you don’t have to torture me to get me to admit I have a flare for the odd, goth and strange.
My music of choice is electro from the 80’s and foward. One of my favorite bands are my fellow countrymen; Covenant.
I like almost all electro music. As long as there is no guitarrs and real drums in it I will most likely shake my frail body to it!
I’ve been in two of Elegant Machinery’s musicvideos (where I also was a make up, hair and wardrobe stylist as well as a camera assistant) for example.
Since I’ve modelled for so many years I always do my best to keep it professional – but I must warn you – I can’t keep my pie hole shut and are always laughing, so I dearly recommend earplugs.
I’m thrilled to be a goth Rockabella model and is looking foward to sink my vampire teeth into it.

Born and raised in the city of cheese…Gouda!
My father listened to a lot of psychedelic rock, the beatles, the doors, pink floyd and this has influenced my in choice of musis today. I love to listen to metal, black metal, industrial, neofolk, Rob Zombie, Mortiis, Danzig, Johnny Cash, and many many more.
I don’t consider myself as a beautiful model, I just love modelling and especially for Rockabella’s. Besides the great result I can be sure I had a fun day. Modelling is my way of being creative.
My goals for the future: have more fun and have more ink!
